Advice / comments on S3 exhausts please. I read about booming S3 exhausts at 2800- 3200 revs ( 70-85mph) and mine does. Besides the cost/slight power increase implications does the Milltek eliminate this. Anybody at the next Windsor met with S3 and Milltek give me a quick ride for a comparison? Thanks.
Otherwise, so far the car is great .

Hi Chris
I have the Miltek on my S3 and if I can make it to the next Windsor meet (I'm usually working 16:00 - 00:00 that week) you're quite welcome to a ride to listen to the difference.
IMHO there is not a great deal of noise increase allthough it has a deeper sound and is more meaningful to the car (if you know what I mean). Sort of enhances the engine note slightly. As far as performance goes I cannot notice a great deal of difference. This might be because I have only had cat back fitted and not changed the downpipe and cat.
The only "booming" I have heard from my standard exhaust is when it there is a lot of surface water on the road. When I drive through a lot of surface water the exhaust occasionally (very rare though) seems to vibrate against the body of the car. Evidently this is quite common for the S3 of which Audi are aware of but have no answer to the problem.
Gald you are enjoying the car

My S3 backbox and clamp is being replaced FOC on friday.
took it in for a leak when cold,(blowing on clamp, that had previously been tightened...)
no leak found ... but exhaust was hot and probably expanded and sealed....
BUT they are replacing it due to an excessive rattle..
so should solve the blowing leak in the mid section clamp.

Chris,
The standard exhaust on my S3 is fine, no booming. Yet I suppose it all depends on your definition of booming.
Only had the wet weather exhaust vibration once. It was on a long Club Audi drive in the Peak District in heavy rain, and rivers of surface water. I haven't had it fixed yet. Not sure if its worth it, seeing its only happened once.
Glad you are enjoying the car.
