i guess the reason they dropped that engine was the struggle they have to meet the emmision laws

The new S3 is not confirmed yet but it will most likely have a 3.2 litre block V6 with no less than 280bhp.
quattro and the usual S refinements etc.

not if you read todays Autocar it isnt. They say no room for a S in the new A3 range as 3.2 Quattro will take its place. They reckon RS3 will be an Avant type 5 door

but its all talk at this time

Yes I`ve heard the rumor`s and your right it is very early at this stage, but it may be true, more likely because of the performance side of the A3 3.2 V6 engine!
But not to have a `S` for the A3 range is not very Audi like...... [img]images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]

I tested a V6 on R32 :sleepy engine [img]images/graemlins/sleeping_2.gif[/img] good for saloon not for S3 [img]images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]
Hope to have something more ( anyway a turbo ) [img]images/graemlins/thumbs.gif[/img]in next S3

Boring mag it may be these days, but "Car" DO tend to get facts right. In agreement with the above comments, they also say No S3 in the new line up.

Yep they mention no S3, but it does make sense really, the top of the range A3 is very powerful, i think they`ve messed up by

a) calling it a A3 instead of S3
b) giving it too much power

Spec`s for the new A3 3.2 V6 quattro =

0-62mph in 6.7 seconds
top speed of 153mph
241bhp / 177kw with 320nm (AutoCar also suggests that the power has been upgraded to 250bhp like the TT)

Now...... where can audi improve the A3 to make it a worthy S car???? [img]images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]
