I'd have to agree. With my S3, mods to the wheels, brakes, suspension, and styling bits have only cost me an admisitration charge to change the insurance documents. It's only when I've added more power that the costs go up considerably.

I had my insurance vioded when I was a young lad. Direct Line weren't to happy about the exhaust and wheels I'd added to my Fiesta when I crashed it.

The M5 is factory fitted as standard. Mine's aftermarket, and it's a VSD Concept, although they have stopped making them now. :-(

DEFI offer a complete set of products that can all be linked together using the Link Control Unit. The HUD shows RPM (graph and number) and Speed, but can show a number of other things based on the sensors connected to the link control unit (if you use it), e.g. boost, pressures, temps etc.

If you really feel daring, you could remove the dashboard and mount it flush, not something I would undertake myself.

Well it was fitted to my old girl... I installed it (along with control unit & about 2 years ago I think, then transferred it when I changed cars.

Here's a vid of someone playing with theirs (ohh err), note that it is linked to the control unit and a number of the optional sensors!

I bought mine from AwesomeGTI, so it's worth giving them a call (they are a DEFI distributor).

I've also seen adverts for a 2007 model: Defi Link Display VSD X, however there is no info on Nippon Seki's web site. But there's 1 on ebay, the main difference is that the screen is integrated.

**They can't display turbo boost pressure, that's why I had the BF gauge fitted.** :-)
