SUPER CHIPPING

Post by 242spot » Thu Dec 08, 2005 9:59 am

Hey guys.
I want to start the age old topic of chipping.
Who has what, and what do you have to say for them.
Does any body have the super chip in there car? I spoke to a guys who recemmended it, is there any negative feedback from any one out there.

Cheers spot

TBH It has been discussed many times and nothing has really changed except for MRC are on the scene now. If I was you I would go to MRC in Banbury and get a custom remap - if you dont want to travel go to Awesome GTI for APR remap or I'm sure you will find a revo dealer close by to you.

I have Revo and it works fine for me - if I did it all over again it would be MRC or Jabba (Jabba too far from you I think)

I 'Revo'd' mine too and it was pretty good. Good value and ran better than the original map in my opinion. Obviously more powerful but I mean in terms of smoothness and delivery.

I had the Superchip file in my 2002 BAM S3. Wouldn't recommend it TBH. Slows the sensitivity of the throttle by adjusting the ratio between the potentiometers on the pedal and throttle body, hence giving it the appearance of being laggier than standard. Not what you want. It then comes on boost quite hard at about 2800rpm, but because it gives so much between 3000 and 5000rpm it sends the intake temperature though the roof and you lose loads higher up. It felt like the engine didn't want to rev any higher than 5500rpm. In a sustained fast drive, it was noticeably slower up the top.

I now have a file written by a mate from Brigend, S.Wales. Much, much quicker than the superchips file and now has better than standard response and pulls hard to the limiter.
In short, avoid the Superchips file. Everything else is much of a muchness. You won't be dissappointed with any.
One thing I will say is don't get caught up in the bulls**t search for every last horse power and argue the toss with people who seem chuffed they have three more horsepower than you.

Chris.
