OK,

Valium taken!

To be a bit more constructive I have spoken to a chap today at Jabba who claims to have done many of these kits. The earlier engines apparently make more power due to having slightly more aggressive cams?!? The chap was still quite confident in making 345BHP and 320ft/lb torque - which I think would still be lovely! The only catch is that there is a three month waiting list :-(

Typical costs all in are £4k although they will supply the kit for just over £3k. Fit it yourself and get Amd to map it I presume...

My first question was really in relation to the usable power range of the AmD remap being very small (like driving a deisel). I have since spoken to AmD about this and they are hopefully going to have the car back in sometime soon.

Looking at their torque/power chart on the website it appears that it matches, the torque drops to well below 200ft lb before 6000rpm which makes the rest of the rev range useless.

I guess I should have studied these more closely before having the remap but AmD are only 15 miles away.

Is there anyone here who lives in the Oxfordshire area who has a 350bhp ish S3 and wouldn't mind taking me out in it?!?!

APR are also on the UK big turbo bandwagen. These guys are quoting upto 380BHP

Right, whether an FMIC will help to stop the ECU pulling the timing back, god only knows. I know what you are getting at, the cars push out some great heat on the rollers and no doubt will get their timing retarded, but not sure what happens on the road. A good FMIC wouldn't do any harm at least :D Mine never made it on to my S3 unfortunately, lack of time and effort, then came the RS.

So Deadeye, RS6 is a slightly different kettle to the S3. You'll get more power from a 4.2 V8TT than a 1.8T :D

Cheers all

Ben

@ Deadeye, I drove a 330 mtm S3 with the K-26 turbo on. Hamski on here has it now. Awesome. Just much, much quicker and doesn't tail off like the K04. If you don't mind spending the wedge, do it. You won't be sorry. Or are you already looking at the one on ebay ? Noticed you've put your car on a-s.net for sale.

@bjacks, think the big turbo is probably the way to go with mine. Had a bad experience with an R32 tonight. So either the turbo or the car has to go ! Think the problem with mine was the remap. Superchips. Not the best. Lucky it was really cheap.

Chris.

@deadeye - yes, loads of kits done - how many exactly on 4WD cars...

@bjacks - APR told me they would not be developing a RHD kit and I should go ahead and get the MTM kit. Are you telling me you know of right hand drive cars with the APR kit on? Or are you just reading the APR US website? ;-) Seriously, isn't that 2004 info you're looking at on the APR "UK" site? Was "coming soon" then... Jim at Awesome and Stephen from APR told me in person that it's not happening...
