Porsche brakes

Post by RobTheHungryMonkey » Fri Dec 03, 2004 12:01 pm

I've managed to get some 911 (996) brake callipers. can anyone help with regards to the rest of the parts required for them to fit my S3?
Don't really know what I need or where to get them?

Having trouble at the moment.

Thanks,

Rob.

Which calipers have you got? Normal C2/4, Turbo, etc?

AmD advertise selling the bells and brackets on their website for the 993TT at £249 http://www.auto-amd.com/s3brakes.asp

s8n has done this DIY, perhaps he can shed some more light.

Let us know how you get on,

Ben

What colour are they? IIRC, the C2/4 calipers are silver, and the Turbo ones are all red.

Hi mate, Doing the same thing. Bought 996 GT3 calipers from germany and trying to find suitable discs. Try and find the diameter of the discs the calipers are designed to run. Mine are 330mm. Can't go a lot bigger because of the disc sweep through the caliper without machining the tops of the radius like movit do to the 380 kits.
Thought of TT V6 discs or R32 discs as these are 334x32 and are 1-piece(no seperate bell). Need to check the offset though. RS4 discs are 360x32 but the caliper would need modifying.
You also need the pad size to get the pad swept area right. GTT do modified Merc ML 270CDi discs to suit Porsche calipers . They are 340x32 which they run with a spacer behind the disc to move it out from the bottom ball joint.
For plain seperate rotors try the precision brake company in the states(V.cheap at the moment due to the exchange rate) or for Porsche discs specifically for the calipers Ray@ West Tuning. Think he'll do you the bells and adapters too.
I'm probably going to machine my own to suit whichever discs I get.
Hope this helps.

Regards, Chris.
