Difference between apy and amk? vvt?

Post by Ryan_s3 » Sun Feb 01, 2004 2:03 pm

What is the difference between the apy and amk engines is it that the apy's don't have vvt?How can you tell if your car has vvt?I have been told there is a solenoid somewhere near the head that gives the vvt models away is this true?I've heard the vvt's came in on late 99.Can anyone who has it on a 99 tell me if this is true?

Both my 225's (2002 & last of 2003 BAM engines) had the solenoid you speak of on the passenger side of the engine for the VVT.

I was led to belive the VVT's before this change were mechanical. Ie oil pressure driven
(not sure if this is correct)

i was told by AmD it was for torque delivery.

makes sense as the 225's also got a bit more torque compared to the 210's
