hi,
Just was wondering your thoughts on high miles s3's? There seems to be a few ex-company mules around with around 100k on the clock. Are theses a complete no-go,or as long as they have been serviced regulary with audi are o.k?Any turbo car is going to wear the engine faster and turbos always have a life span not to mention the 4wd system/suspension wearing but is this more minimal if m/way miles are involved?I can't believe audi allows service intervals every 10,000 miles surely it should be less ,as turbo cars should have there oil changed at least every 5k imho.Thoughts ,Ryan

Re: High Mile s3's?Any good?
Hello Ryan, engine wise, i'm told the 1.8 5vT lump is bombproof as long as it has been looked after regularly (ie full documented service history, evidence of oil changes etc). Hard to say about the miles really - we all drive differently. My guess is that it should be ok as long as the engine has warmed up properly before any spirited driving etc.
Obvious tell-tale signs on all abused/tired engines are abnormal rattles/knocks from top/middle engine, blue exhaust smoke, sludge in oil filler cap etc.
Possible weak spots may be worn syncros on gearbox (2nd particularly) - I believe a few people with LOW mileage S3/TT's have had this but not really that common.
yep turbo will wear out eventually but like the engine, if it has been used properly then it should be OK.
best seek some advice from a good Audi dealer/specialist/mechanic - maybe give a good specialist like QSTuning or AMD a call and seek their expert advice on these things.
FYI, i'm on variable servicing and my service intervals are roughly every 17.5k miles.
hope this helps
what sort of price are these cars up for?

M3 CSL - Silver Grey, a few options.

I run an early (1999 T) S3 with 122k on it. Regularly serviced and cared for. Apart from seat wear (getting retrim soon) the car is excellent and is faster and more responsive than my mates 2002 model.
