Just got my car back after getting it fixed to the cost of £1400.Was thinking about getting rid of itbut [censored] that its staying. Gonna splash out on it a bit after christmas ie new wheels, chip and possibly lower it. Can anyone recommend a good looking wheel (18") that looks superb on the s3 and also the best chip togo for?
wat about lowering it does it make the ride real harsh?
s3 make over
Re: s3 make over
Gordo,
For 18" wheels, I do like the RS TT wheels (which I have) but some people would say they are a bit common. Mick has 18" Sportecs which are very nice but for me, my favorite has to be the MTM wheels from Kim Collins, although Kim told me they are 19" only (this may have changed)
Best chip - blimey thats a minefield. Really you have 3 or 4 choices, MTM, REVO, AMD or APR. They all give similar power but drive differently - the best advice is to try and get a test drive with someone who has a chipped car already.
I also have my car lowered on Koni adjustable dampers and H&R springs. IMO, yes, it does compromise ride quality but the car looks better and handles better. I wouldnt go back to standard now. You have to learn to live with the ride quality as a trade off against looks/handling. However some other spring/damper combinations might be less harsh than what I have.

Re: s3 make over
I have to agree with Dunc above.
I have the factory fitted Quattro GmBh suspension, so dont need to change, this can be bought and fitted aftermarket.
but you could go the same way as Dunc, and get an adjustable set up which atleast allows you to taylor its characteristics and ride height to suit you, unlike a fixed upgrade.

Have to agree that the RS TT wheels are gorgeous, no arguments when him indoors wanted to include them on the spec for his S3. And they really set the car off well.
Re: s3 make over
i also chose the RSTT's from new (on 2 s3's) i think they look fantastic, and didnt care if smaller versions were used on everything down to the A2. For me, i didnt want a s3 without them.
if i was looking at aftermarket, then id go with the MTM.
cross between OEM RSTT and Sportec look.
