Audi S3/TT Coil Packs

Post by Riz_RS4 » Tue Oct 28, 2003 8:28 pm

There has been much talk about the reliability of the Audi Coil Packs for the S3/TT variant engines.

Here is a link with some information regarding what they are and what they actually do.

Coil Packs Author Si

My S3 went in today to have some work done and following my coil pack failure awhile back i asked about buying a spare from the parts desk, the service chap then said that they will change all the old coil packs for the new versions as Audi has given the go ahead for dealers to have them changed, not a official recall as such but will be done when your cars are next in for work to be carried out.

Even if your car is out of warranty i have been told that Audi UK will change them FOC! Im not sure how this will work if you warranty has expired because you wont have RAC Audi cover maybe worth checking with your local dealerships, im sure new and potential new owner`s will find this information useful, sorry for all the "in the know" owners like myself

Riz, the FOC replacements is only for certain engine numbers. I asked about this last week when I popped in and its not a blanket replacement on all 1.8Ts
Always check your nuts before you have a play !

Yes they will only change the one`s that are "supposedly" affected....... they check by the VIN numbers.

Mine are now all the new ones so lets hope the problems cured...... forgot to add....

My S3 now feels alot smoother now and im beginning to wonder if coil packs can still work if they are part faulty?
