Noisy Power Steering?

Hi Guys,

I have had my S3 just under a week and the power steering seems noisy? Its whirs even on tick-over?

Anybody else have noisy power steering?

Does your steering make any noise at all? Even a slight whine?

I could just be worrying for no reason?

Well the power-steering should only make the whining noise when on full lock as the pump is working harder for the pressure to work... but holding in full-lock all the time is not advisable as it will damage the pump..... does it go louder when you put it into full lock?

Also have you noticed and loss of power-steering when driving or a harder feel when turning the wheel?

Is it a rack or a belt noise? Belt is going to be cheaper as it may have fallen out of adjustment or be knackered for some reason. The rack will get noisey with age but not until a good 100k+ miles. Do you feel any "lumps" or pressure in the steering when turning?

Mine appears to be running more nosier than normal, not had a change to get it into the stealers yet.. 57k miles.
