take off for fuel will be at the bottom.... so thats that theory out the window....
would be a bit useless having it anywhere else...

Re: S3 Fuel Consumption?
Just below 300 miles for me, mainly city traffic driving though : )
Re: S3 Fuel Consumption?
could be due to weight? less fuel in tank.Has anybody else noticed an increase in engine responsiveness when the tank gets below 1/4 full?
Both my A3 and S3 are much more spritely when they are under 1/4 tank. I put it down to weight as I can't think of any other reason, this is why I rarely have more than £15 worth of fuel in at a time.
When I filled up last week I really noticed the extra weight.

Re: S3 Fuel Consumption?
Not an S3 but not dissimilar.
My A3 T Quattro will give around 400 on a run and more like 250-300 in intensive city driving. However crawling in roadworks in 6th on the A12 with a full tank (of Optimax) on Monday saw the DIS reading 495 miles to empty.
Quite chuffed with that

Where abouts on the A12 were you mate?
You'll get better MPG in your TQ as it uses the smaller K03 turbo. The K04 in the S3 can really demand a lot of fuel. Fecker.
Fair play to the 495miles though
Check out the 5.5 instant if you can make it out
Cheers

I can beat that
I 'babied' my S3 home down about 25 miles of motorway at 55 mph in order to get to my Shell garage. DIS read 0 miles about 2 miles before I got there
When I filled up the DIS read 525 miles, I was so shocked I nearly took a picture
Once I started to drive it again it soon plummeted mind you
With respect to the original thread, my DIS reads 28mpg at the moment, and I get between 290 and 360 miles per tank with an average I would say of about 330

Re: S3 Fuel Consumption?
Just put £15's worth of BP Optima in, supposed to be 100 RON !!
Seems to be going well on Optimax mode, maybe a combination of damp air and increased octane fuel.
I live about 15 miles outside Brum, the garage was in Aldridge, 82.3p per litre!

Cheers - that was doing 40 in 6th though!!
Umm I was on the whole length of the A12. I live at one end in London and I was visiting my mother up at the other end near Lowestoft. The roadworks are near Chelmsford i think.
I never look at the instant readout - it's way too depressing and the car seems to believe that I average 25mpg which seems a bit wrong frankly.
