Hi there i hav been a proud audi s3 owner for nearly 2 years but since christmas i hav been tearing my hair out with it ,christmas day of all days my alarm kept going off so had 2 keep running down stairs and unlocking it 2 stop it, and since then its been getting worse nothing for a week or two and then boom its a way again, its been a total nightmare in and out the garage 4 or five times and as good as £800 spent and its now worse than ever the central locking and windows wont work and the guy at the garage has told me 2 get rid of it as the wiring loom for the car is saturated with water possibly from the rear skoosher pipe coming loose and it would cost 2 grand out of audi for a new 1 and an obscene amount of labour and other problems 2 go with it,so as not worth it.
But I was looking for a second opinion as it seems an awful waste.
I got this site address from a richard taylor whos number i got from another audi site as i hav been scouring the net for a specialist that could either help me or point me in the right direction.
He assured me that sum1 on this here fine site could help me as im at my wits end so if any1 could i would be very much obliged.
thank you Brian
ps parts already replaced alarm siren and labour £180
central locking control unit and labour £380
"diy" wiring section to connect control unit to loom £180
another newbie! alarm wiring loom fault?
RE: another newbie! alarm wiring loom fault?
what kind of garage has been looking at it? are they reputable.why did you need a diy wiring section to fit the new control unit they plug straight in.
Hi there
just an independent garage who i thought where reputable?thought audi would hav been too dear but at least i would have had sum comeback. The guy told me the connection had water damage and audi didnt do replacements so he had to make something up himself or so he said! hav u any knowledge of faults things like this?

Hi, has the central locking/elec windows worked since you had the car back from the garage?if wiring becomes water damaged it easily repaired by cutting out the bad and adding new.half suspecting that the diy wiring done by the garage is substandard.iam an audi master technician and would be able to sort it out for you but i am in stoke on trent so a bit far away.
Hi again since the last time the car came out of the garage it worked for about a day!
he said the hose pipe had came loose in a small plastic compartment at the top right hand corner of the engine bay and the loom runs down the same channel so he couldnt tell how much of the loom was damaged! is his view that the car is basically a right off accurate?do u think it could be fixed for sensible money as the car is bloody immaculate otherwise reconditioned engine out of audi at 75k now at 86k and everything! pity im not closer then as i need sum1 with the knowledge 2 look at it with out breaking the bank
