Just brought home my 02 S3.

Post by amyja83 » Tue Jan 09, 2007 12:55 am

Hello all,
my name is Amy and i am pleased to say that i have just picked up my 02 reg 225 Audi S3 in silver.

I think the car used to belong to an enthusiast. The log book says Mr Norman, it has an audi-sport.net sticker in the window. Does anyone know him? or details of the car?

The vehicle does seem to have had some performance mods. My boyfriend used to have one standard and this seems a lot quicker and he says so too having driven it.

It has Brembo front brakes, Samco hoses, drilled discs and also a milltek exhaust. Im presuming somebody would not have these mods without a re-map and it does feel very quick and smooth.

The car is in immaculate condition with Bose, full leather and a 6 disc changer, im really pleased with it.

Hope to speak to you all soon.

xx

Well done young lady, nice nippy cars. Do like them in silver too :D

I've only been on this forum for a few months (if that) and they're a good bunch of people here.

Enjoy your stay and see you around the pages ;)

Welcome :)

Did you not read the registration rules, all new members must post a pic or two ;) he he

Maybe you could join audi-sport.net to find the previous owner?!?!?

If you are unsure of the mods, what have you done about the insurance?

Bloody good point! !

Insurance companies (most of them) are linked into each other, therefore they probably have a better idea on whats been done if the previous owner declared them.

I would check with someone, best to contact the previous owner, there details should be on the log book.

Ask them and then tell the insurance company what's what.

If the insurance company already know they're not going to say anything unless you have a claim and then they could say....

I'm sorry Amy, this is a Modded car and you didn't tell us, your insurance is invalid! ! !"

Best be on the safe side

Sounds very much like the car is re-mapped. I re-mapped my old S3. It was a good car before but it was fantastic afterwards. There is a pretty noticeable difference between a standard one and a re-mapped one so your judgement is probably correct. The standard gain for this car is about 40hp so if you declared a 20% power increase on your insurance I'm sure you'd be covered. It didn't add that much to my policy.

Its very difficult to tell exactly what map your car is running if its been programmed via the OBD port and there's no record anywhere and no way of contacting the previous owner. My advice is if it feels right and the car is peforming well just enjoy it and don't worry. You could always have it re-mapped again and 'write over' the current programme but that's likely to cost you at least £500 and you may just end up with the same anyway. How did you come by the car? Surely whoever sold it to you has some responsiblity here to give you some details and information.
