Audi S3 Brake Problem

Post by jons3 » Thu Jun 01, 2006 5:18 pm

Hi,

firstly, I've been reading this forum for a couple of months now, since I got my 2000MY Audi S3 and it looks like a good source of information, I used it alot when buying mine. I had an Integra Type R previously but it was written off by someone pulling out in front of me, so I fancied something different, and have always like the S3

I am really impressed by the car, but have a few problems, the worst being the brakes. When braking from any speed, it occasionally pumps the pedal back at me and i lose brakes momentarily, then the pedal is normal again and I have brakes, it will keep doing this every few seconds depending on how long it takes to stop.

I had the brake fluid changed straight after buying the car, could this be the problem? possibly air in the system?

also, and i think its unrelated, the ABS/ESP lights come on when I go over bumps sometimes etc.. but i think this is just a loose sensor (VAG-COM showed no logged faults as it is is fine again when i cycle the ignition)

cheers

Jon

maybe try cleaning the ABS sensors which are located between the hub and brake disc. To do this, it is easier to remove the disc as behind the disc sits the abs locator wheel which the sensor monitors. Dirt can/does lodge on the sensor unit itself which interrupts the signal. Otherwise it could be a dodgy sensor etc. If no vag-com faults then a process of elimination I'm afraid.

Enjoy the car - they are great.
M3 CSL - Silver Grey, a few options.
