John there was a similar report like this on another S3 a while ago on here - possible culprit is lean running? Likely outcome is piston knackered and possible damage to cylinder(s).

Also Chelsea Mick had the same before Xmas - new engine was final outcome.
M3 CSL - Silver Grey, a few options.

Sounds like excessive heating starting at number one cyl and spreading to number 2. Mine failed on cyl 3 and started a bit on cyl 4. Jabbasport are picking mine up this week for rebuild so will know more soon.

Hopefully your head isn't too damaged maybe replace a couple of valves. You've probably melted a piston but hopefully nothing large was sucked into turbo or that will need replacing too.

I pulled over immediately and was towed home. Something to do with lean running??

I have some pics of my engine on my thread if your interested.

thats it my s3 went on a low loader today, of to qst for repair work.cant afford a brand new engine, but kim has sorced a 225 with 30k on it, its not what i would like to do but its the best fix for the money. hopefully ill get it back the early part of next week.new water pump, new cam belts, and a new MAF which i think was the cause for my engine eating itself.sould get some change out of 3k,having it rolling roaded while its there
