I've got a trackday booked at Bedford on the 1st Dec, and if the weather's not great I'll probably take the S4 rather than the 911.
So, between now and then I need to get the alignment checked (don't know if/when it was last done).
The garage will want to set everything to factory specs. Are there any suggested tweaks to the factory geo that'll make it drive a bit better?
I also intend to fit some Yellowstuff pads and an RS4 rear ARB if time permits.
S4 on track
Re: S4 on track
Go to a garage with a bit of race experience. it might cost a couple of quid more but they can dial in your car for the track
Re: S4 on track
Do you have a B6 or a B7?? As the B7's already have the 22mm RS4 rear ARB...dan101smith wrote:I've got a trackday booked at Bedford on the 1st Dec, and if the weather's not great I'll probably take the S4 rather than the 911.

Re: S4 on track
A B6.
I'm not looking for a dedicated track setup - the chances are this would be the only time my Avant would see the track. Just wondered if there are any known tweaks to the geometry that make it a little......friskier!

B6 Avant would defo see an improvement in cornering flatness with the larger RARB (i think yours is a 20mm).dan101smith wrote:A B6.

Other than that, a decent DOT 5.1 brake fluid change is ideal for High Performance Road Applications, Competition and Track Days.
Without busting the bank, I'd throw in a decent panel filter for £50ish, a decent set of H&R or Eibach springs would help too.

Re: S4 on track
I'm there on the pads and fluid, and maybe some braided lines, but I'm not changing the springs - it rides pretty much perfectly on the road, so I don't want to jeopardise that for the sake of one trackday.
TBH I'd rather be taking my 911, but if the weather's crap I don't want to risk someone hitting it, so the S4 will do for a one-off.
