Exhausts

Post by Batfinnk » Sun Oct 21, 2012 11:57 am

I know a lot of you will probably condemn me for asking but what are people's thoughts on stainless systems other than miltek? :FIREdevil:

I have been looking around the local area round here in sunny kent and there are a few about. One which did grab my attention was Longlife exhausts. If I'm right they have been around for years and used to be well known for the stainless systems for Ford's.

I am going with a Capristo system in the spring but they are more expensive than a Milltek so if you are looking at saving pennies this is not the way to go. Good thing is MRC can fit them which will save me the headache of doing it. Here's a link to a fitted one in 'S' mode.

Not heard of the one you are looking at buying but it normally comes down to research so I am sure you can find out if it is a good option or not with the guys and gals on here and other sites where they might have fitted systems of that brand.

I thought Longlife were cheap things done by tyre fitting companies? Thats the only place i have seen them advertised.

MIJ seem to get very good reviews and do full systems with a sports cat for the price of a milltek cat back... to be honest i have seen home made exhausts of better quality than milltek! my car came with one fitted and they are terrible quality! ESPECIALLY for the cost!!!

I have seen milltek cat back non res for about £750 which isnt too bad. I like the sound of the MIJ system but they are miles away. Way hoping to try and find a closer alternative. I may message Longlife as they have a branch in Ashford which isnt too far and ask for a quote. Can't do any harm and don't mind being a guinea pig and trying them. You never know, they could be the non milltek answer we have been looking for :beerchug:

I contacted Longlife and heard back from them today. They are the company I was thinking of that used to be the people to go to for the Ford stainless systems. Spoke to a guy there who quoted me £800 plus vat for a cat back system specced to how I want. The price is the same res or non res and could be done in a day and they quoted £1200 plus vat for a full system including sports cats and all come with a lifetime warranty.

What do we reckon?

I looked into a Longlife a few months ago and decided against it in the end. There was a couple of other folk on SRS interested and Longlife offered us a group buy at a reduced rate. Feedback from others who had used them before was reasonably positive. I almost went for it but decided to save up a few more quid and get a Miltek.
There's a thread about all this on SRS I started (Tried to post link to thread but it won't let me). There's an S4 sound clip on there as well that Longlife put up on YouTube.

I didn't ask if they had any pictures but there may be some on their website. Each system they make is bespoke and made once they have agreed with you the customer exactly what you want. The guy did say to me they had done one last week and it sounded awesome.

I've used longlife exhaust near Bristol a number of times and they've always been professional and the systems they supplied have been great. I've had systems for MR2's MX 5's and Alfa V6's over the years, the systems come with a lifetime guaratee and you can work with the mechanics whilst they fabricate the system (you can specify what "noise" you want etc) . Pretty sure it has a lifetime guartantee too. That said I guess this is a franchise based setup so I'm not sure what the outlet near you would be like.
