B7 S4 Respray Project

Hi Gang,
I think I have one of the fist B7 S4's out there. It's 1st Jan 2005. I'm the second owner. The previous owner stuck 137000 miles on it and kept it mint. I've done another 15k so it's up to a whopping 152000 miles and it's just like a new car to drive. As you can imagine with these miles it's been fairly pitted with stones and the like so it's time for a full front end respray. One other thing I don't like on the S4 is the nose. I think the late S line models with the non chrome surround looked better.
So Ive giving it to a trusted VAG group paint guru to work his magic.
Day one is complete and here's where we're at:
Before on a trip over the Alps this year. Looks OK from here but when you get close it's starting to look tatty.
So lets get to work!
I'll put some more pics up tomorrow / tues.
Stay tuned.

What you are referring to is known as the Black Optics pack and it is standard on the later Black Edition models
*edited for technical mistake

Good work, I've just had my B7's front and rear resprayed and it looks almost like new! Had the front bumper, wings and rear bumper sprayed and it looks great.

Makes a big difference having those little marks touched up.
Who are you using to do the work?
Oh and is that the Grossglockner road you are on in the alps there?

I like the black optics pack then. Did it come with black headlights too? I quite fancy the decline.de fogs and rear lights as well.
The guy who's doing the painting is a privateer based in Barnsley. If you live in South or West yorkshire he might be an option for anyone wanting something done.
Not sure what the road is but we were staying in La Grave, France and were driving over to Monettier in Ser Chevallier. I've parked just before Col du Lautere if you know it.
PS diving up the alps in this distroyed anything else on the road. Even the crazy Citreon mini vans!

PS i'd like the black light but I've got adaptive xenons and I'm not willing to give them up for a black background

Will follow this with interest. This is coming up soon on my B6 S4 (156,000 miles now) and it rather pitted up front too!
Can I ask you/others what you'd expect to pay for a job (private or not) for the front end, up to the back of the front wings?

It can vary wildly and with quality of work so I did my research. I think £500 will be as cheap as you'll find. But it might be poor work so check out there past jobs.

Thanks. I have been told to work on the very rough estimate of about £200 per panel. Sounds fair. But I've also heard of someone near me that could do this for a third of that price. Will definitely want to see examples of past work for that price!

£100 a pannel is absolute rock bottom but some people do it as a hobby so check there work maybe it's ok.

Few dints and chips on the rear quarter. bit of prep.
Some tw@t put a dented scrape on her with a trolly when I was at the supermarket. Grrrr.

Previous owner had a dog so claw marks on the rear bumper were inevitable. Lets get rid of them.

Looking tidy. Seeing this is making me want to go at at least get my bumpers done.
Have you married up the bumper to the body to check how close it matches up?
