Engine vibration only after hard drive

Post by zjamiez » Tue Jan 10, 2012 6:03 pm

Hello All,

I have recently changed to an S4 and I have and issue.

The car is an 03 with 50k on it. Full service history etc.

When driven hard (eg redline) the engine becomes very rough through the rev range and vibration is felt through the car.

This happens in gear and out of gear wich eliminates the transmission.

If I turn the car off and (give it a rest) then start it again all is fine.

Iam fairl mechanically minded and however I can not for the life of me figure out what it is.

Sounds like what happened to me when my flywheel was on the way out
Similar sort of mileage too

Edit to say could also be a coil pack

Coil packs sounds more likely as they have not been done !

Is it misfiring?

Do you get a CEL light?

When it starts, is it OK on light acceleration but becomes more apparent the harder you accelerate?
