Slight rattle / judder under low engine load

Hi all,

I have a slight rattle when pulling away under slight engine loading at about 1.5 k revs. It is most noticeable if pulling away in second or very slowly in first if up a hill etc. It sounds very much like an exhaust baffle rattle but isn't and it will only occur under motion and engine load... any ideas anyone?

Your bogging the engine down I suspect and the noise is the flywheel clattering. Don't pull away in 2nd.

Cheers,

I think you are right it is the flywheel clattering. I don't make a habit of pulling off in second, I just noticed when turning a corner at slow speed to get into my steep driveway. I wonder if the clutch alignment is slightly out..1st to 2nd can feel a bit lumpy sometimes if you aren't going hell for leather, almost like the pedal wasn't slightly down..

Early B6s had issues with the dual mass flywheel separating, although you only very rarely hear of anyone actually having problems.
