Boot wont open and bulb out errors on dash

Went out yesterday, got the push chair out the boot and went for a walk, got back and the boot didnt open on the fob button, unlocked car and boot would still not open on the boot lid release or the button in the drivers door.

Started car and got errors on the dash for left and right fog lights and the number plate lights.

There is no noise from the release and its alway released fine in the past. My thinking is a connector on the boot wiring somewhere, but has anyone got any info to save me some time ripping it apart?

Appreciate your post was back in 2011, did you manage to sort out the problem as I'm having exactly the same issue with mine.

Replaced the number plate bulbs as a long shot but no improvement.

Can anyone help?

Sounds like a broken wire. Have heard that mentioned on here before.

i got a b6 saloon and have no such button lol? where is it?

If you look at the back of the door pocket on he drivers door there should be three buttons. One for switching off the interior sensors, one for the towing and at the bottom one for opening the boot.

Gutted I only have 2 guess it was a b7 thing

Finally had some spare time to have a look at this, turns out it was a wiring issue after all. Wiring was nipped in the 'protective' boot going alongside hinge. Soldered and working again.
