DIS: Faulty Dynamic Headlight Range - Help needed

Post by bigrichw » Thu Mar 31, 2011 4:06 pm

Hello all

So, my headlight levelling seems to be faulty - I have run a scan from a copy of Vagcom i have and it has no error codes that I can see.

The lights do not move at all when the are turned on, so someone suggested it may be the sensor on the rear axle?? Anyone know where this is and what it looks like? Pics maybe? Help would be appreciated..

:audibash: Cheers

Can't miss them mate, both front and rear are on the passenger side with a blue plastic rod connecting the sensor to the suspension.

Worth disconnecting them and spraying WD on the terminals and rubbing off the corrosion. Mine are throwing sensor faults now, but on warmer day it disappears for a bit

Ar, thanks mate I am guessing I will need a ramp then.. or can you get under enough by jack?

Do you reckon this is the problem rather than the motor?

Thanks for your help I will be looking over the weekend and report back.. :beerchug:

Everything is easier with a ramp haha

It would be strange for both motors to fail. The sensor are in a position just begging to get soaked as well. I'm going to check mine out when I fit my sump guard

Sorry just spotted this. I got an Evolution Imports Thor skid plate on a group buy back along, still not got round to fitting it though. It's a bit of a monster!!

I had enough of my headlight fault last week. VAGCOMd it and had the same DTCs as always (short to ground on both sensors)

So ran basic settings on them several times with not much luck, but once again in my work, which has a poured concrete floor so I guessed it's more likely to be dead flat. Ran basic settings and 10 days on and no more warnings.

Hi all long time no speak.

Been mostly on Porsche forums as I have not been using the S4 much recently.

But anyway, I am getting the light on the display showing the dynamic headlight are not working. I removed the headlights to get the front bumper painted to get rid of a couple of stone chips but when I re-fitted the lights and switched on the ignition I am getting the fault light. Is there any other connector other than the main headlight plugs that need to be fitted as I can't work out why I am getting this fault. My Vagcom is playing up at the moment too so can't even scan it.

You just need to go into the headlight range module in Vagcom, click basic settings and reset/relearn the settings. Make sure it's completely flat, level ground though, they seem very sensitive
