Just a quick message to say hello - and ask a question or two....

First off - Hello ;)

And now the questions...

Purchased a 53 plate S4 (Manual) a couple of weeks ago (one owner 70K) - and after reading a few (bloody hundreds of posts) on here, I am pretty well educated in the ups and downs of S4 motoring!

However, got a slight issue with the gearbox and was wondering whether anyone else has had a similar experience.. Basically when selecting either 2nd or 3rd gear when going up through the gears there is a definate 'grind'. I never seem to notice anything when changing down - only up.

I had a full gearbox oil change yesterday and things improved slightly - though when I started the car today, it was a real struggle to select 1st or 2nd until the gearbox had warmed up a bit.

Anyone got any ideas? I've used the search function and cant find anythign similar.... I'm dropping it off at the dealership I purchased it from tomorrow so fingers crossed they will be able to get it mended.. (not sure they will be impressed with the MIJ CAT back I had installed on sat - but 'hey ho!!)

Any comments or advice would be greatfully recieved. I can only assume its a synchro issue - though am not sure as the issue only becomes apparant when going up through the gears and not down....

It could be a syncro issue. the early B6 S4's suffered from this apparently and it was a fix that should/could have been done under warranty.

I don't know much about it but if you speak to Audi they will be able to tell you the full history of the work undertaken by them including all warranty work.
