Hello All
Got my car back this weekend from a short stay at MRC
I tried to fight the urge but i caved in pretty easily in the end
I went for the Milltek downpipes with non res cat back system, new spark plugs, fuel filter, MRC air filter and custom map. Heres how i got on
First run shows the standard car. Not too bad really. God knows what the blip is at the top end though
Second run shows the Millteks fitted. Some gains there but still the strange blip
Third run is after its custom map. Ah no more blip. Instead a healthy increase in power and torque
And the noise now. Hell yeah!!!!!!! Much thanks to Doug and the guys at MRC. I highly recommend
Stu

How much did it all cost?

The Millteks are not cheap. I had some other bits and bobs done aswell so not sure how much the above lot was. Your probably best giving them a call and see what they can do for you. I wouldnt expect alot if any change from £3k. You will be getting a first class service though

"Instead a healthy increase in power and torque"
Blimey, that is quite a big call.
I'm by no means an expert (as my car is stock) and probably will remain so given the above costs circa £3k, but I'm not sure 17.6 bhp (5%) and 33 Nm (7%) represents a "healthy increase"??
Obviously, if you even partially did it for the soundtrack then fair enough...but not sure i could justify the money for the power alone.
Out of interest did the mpg figures inmprove after the remap??

Hi
Tuning a N/A is never going to be cheap or look as impressive on £ to power as FI does. The work done above is basic breathing mods with the remap cleaning it all up. Its also not all about peak figures either. The car makes more torque through every part of the rev range also. The book figure for a B6 S4 is 401Nm so this car is punching above its weight from the off.
As to whether its worth all the money, well thats an individuals call to make. Its not a daily drive and is only used at weekends if i need 4 doors and a boot so couldnt tell you about mpg im afraid

Trust me the work that V8, Xyber and others including myself have made make a noticeable difference to the whole driving experience. The car is much more driveable with improved pick up and feels stronger throughtout the rev range.
I have notice a improvement in slight improvement in mpg but I did not make the changes with that in mind. Quite the opposite in fact.

Yep, it doesn't take that much of a torque increase, throughout the rev range to transform things. My favourite test is my Haldon Hill test. It's a really long, steep hill near Exeter on the A38 that most cars will change down to 4th to get up because it's a real power sapper. With the mods done to mine you can floor it in 6th and it will just accelerate and keep pulling without any hesitation, like if refuses to acknowlege it going up hill. Put in 5th when you get some arse in his Scooby behind you and wave bye bye. It's also great on long distances, just put the armrest down, stick it in 6th and waft along at "ahem" mph at about 2k rpm

What's happening at 5000rpm? Is that dip the cam profile changing or something along those lines?
Just read that back to myself - no pun intended, lol.

It still has Milltek sports cats in so not 100% hardcore. I dont think i would want it any louder though
Doug did explain the 5000rpm thing but i cannot remember for the life of me what he said it was. Either something changing over or the air box or something like that. Nothing to worry about though

5000rpm is the variable geometry inlet manifold switching to short runner mode for max power rather than low down torque. As the flap moves it disrupts the flow and causes a slight drop. You don't even notice it though when tuned well.

Ah yes thats the badger. Thanks Xyber
And your right you wouldnt know it was doing it when your driving
