Best tyre for S4

Post by gottanS » Sun Oct 24, 2010 2:45 pm

There is a thread running in the B7 RS4 forum about tyres so I thought I would ask a similar question.

My preference is Michelin PS2's on a B7 S4 Avant but trying the Pilot Alpins for the winter.

I've got Vreds, I'll try GF1s next, then stick to the one I prefer. The Vreds are great though

F1's. They have been fantastic on all my cars.

I killed my Conti's SC2 in an afternoon session at Bedford.... deliberately as I hated them !!

I then went with F1's and loved them but moved onto Mich PS2s due to the rave reviews.

I found the turn in a bit better on the PS2's which I believe is due to the slightly stiffer side wall. The next set I went back to the F1's as I found the grip slightly better and in the wet they were much more confidence inspiring. I then stuck to F1's.

Admittedly that was over a period of 6 years so the tyres may have changed or developed since. I have heard the Conti's are a lot better than they were ... but that's not saying much!

I use Falken FK452's, great wear, good all round grip and cheap! They are great, you can't go wrong with them.

If you can find them.. Mich Pilot Sport 1's are fantastic all round weather tyres, plus great on track.

Much better than SP2's in my opinion :)

What sizes did you Eagle F1 users get?

I run the standard (I think) 235/40/R18 size which they don't make - but I didn't know if I could use a slightly different size.
