Oil Leak

Did an oil change today on the B6 S4 and the undertray was wet.

After inspection it seems to be coming from in front of the engine, on the nearside, towards the top.

Anyone have a clue what it might be?

Thought that might be a possibility.

Would that be a DIY job?

Yep, pretty straightforward, be careful when removing the rockers, some older ones had a problem with the inside flaking, so remove carfully and give them a brush down to remove the flakes or if your felling flush and fancy nice new ones they were replaced/superseded with plastic versions to stop the problem

Thank you very much.

I did a search for 'oil leak' before posting but not a lot came up.

I'll have a look later on to see if I can spot where it's coming from (we only looked underneath in the garage).

Another common one is the drivers side Aux rad, which is an oil cooler, so worth checking that and the hoses to aswell

Can that be checked without removing the front?

Should be able to see with the undertray off and just pull back the shroud abit, if it's dripping oil it's a pretty safe bet it's leaking

Def sounds like the rocker cover. Mine did the exact same thing after a major service a week back. Its going in today for new gasketts...I should have tried the DIY route though, services at dealers dont come cheap these days. Seems they not selling too many cars, so try make it up on labour and parts :(

Mine did exactly the same, changed the rocker gaskets at a mates garage in a couple of hours....ensure the stealers give you all the gaskets and rubbers though...... :)

GBP400-00 later (ZAR 4000), new plugs and new gaskett covers....new plugs definately worth it. Feels stronger. I am a happy man. My mate took me to collect it in his RS4...little dice on the way back. His comments "I was scared there for a second"
