Ok, so you are starting from scratch with a stock S4 tip saloon, what 3 mods would you do for real world use (i.e no supechargers, nitros etc.,..) would you recommend?

How much to de-cat and, presumably, you'd have to refit them for MOT. Correct?

Hi,

Do NOT de-CAT. There is no reason to and the car will fail the MOT - not good.

Exhaust-wise; I have custom down-pipes and sports CAT's, an X-pipe ( replacing the center muffler)
I also have a REVO remap and the SPS switch - it's the SPS that makes the difference above any other remap, IMHO.

You should read some of the old posts about S4 mods. It's all been discussed before :)

With the current mods on my B6 S4 I raced a 2009 M3 a couple of months a go and I couldn't believe how much faster the S4 was - he was a little bit upset :)

Regards, Chris.

How much did all that cost and how much extra power/torque did you see?

On my old GTR I got an extra 30bhp when I decatted it, granted it was a very different car. I just popped the cat back in for an MOT. The difference was amazing with and without it, firstly the flames were great fun but the power, noise and throttle response were loads better without the cat. I went for sports cat's on the S4 though with a full exhaust and H pipe as I'm a bit more law abiding than I used to be! Cost me £950 from MIJ.

So your S4 with an exhaust and generic remap whipped the slightly lighter, higher revving, RWD, 420bhp, BMW version of the B7 RS4?

Yeah he can't have been much of a driver, possibly of Tom Cruise stature and his foot couldn't reach all the way to the floor! ;)
