Parking Sensors

Post by Tomson » Mon Jul 12, 2010 5:53 pm

Hi,

Can someone please post a pictures of their rear bumper with parking sensors ?

Did they come with them as standard on the B6 S4 cab?

On our S4 they are not working, but there is no button inside to shut them up as on a B7 for example. Also no noise coming from anywhere, on a B7 they just make an annoying noise when they are knackered.

Finally the outside sensors are really corroded, I am wondering if they are just blanks if there is such a thing.

I want to look, but the car is away having the wheels refurbed.

Cheers,

Tomson

If there is a lot of corrosion they will not work ..Try cleaning them up..

My S4 cab is a B6 and has the rear sensors and also the button on the dash to turn them off which you mention.
Maybe someone has fitted a bumper with them on but you dont have the electronics.
Have you tried a vagcom scan it will tell you if they are fitted and/or working.

There may be no evidence of the sensors on VAG COM...

I had sensors retrofitted (by a main dealer) when I bought my car, and I've since had a few problems with the front sensors going off at random. When I took it to my local dealer, they said that they couldn't/wouldn't do anything to fix it because the other dealer had not fitted the proper OEM kit (i.e. not the kit with a module that shows up on VAG COM. This also means that I don't have the button on the dash either.

So it could be that you've got an aftermarket sensor kit fitted, which has since been disconnected, or broken. Or as Bigsidavies says, you might just have a bumper fitted with the sensors, but they're not plugged into anything...

Thanks for the responses guys, car is back from the wheel refurbishers and I have had a look under the back of her.

Definately a dealer retrofit, so no button on the dash. I am going to have a complete new set fitted before I advertise the cab.
