B6 S4 Tuning

Post by xyber » Tue Jun 15, 2010 9:17 pm

Who's been tinkering around to get abit more from the engine? I'm starting getting parts together to add to what I've done already and wondering how the engine responds to different additions.

So, what you got and what's HP and TQ figures if you know them or how does it feel to drive when compared to standard if you don't.

RR graphs would be great if you have them.

Thanks all

Marc

Engine wise I've done full milltek nonres with downpipes and a BMC panel filter, replaced all plugs and coilpack and I've got a JHMotorsport inlet manifold and manifold spacer kit on the way, then I'll need a trip to MRC to bring it all together.

I've had my eye on the mani for a few months, but I've held off untill the first people in the states to have them have lived with it for a few months to see how it goes. Can't wait!!!

After that I want to fit a lightweight pulley possibly the free up the revs even more

I have straight down pipes, sports cats, K&N filter and a JD Engineering re-map. I have no RR figures but the car feels stronger, revs freely and gives much better than stock 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. I am also considering the intake manifold and spacers mods. Got a business trip in the states planned for August and I'm considering picking up the parts then.

Thanks guys

What gains are you expecting with the mani/spacer?

I had a B6 Avant a few years ago, and back then it was basically only the catback/airbox/map that was available unless you wanted an MTM supercharger! So gains were up to c380bhp max. I guess with the above you're hoping to nudge the 400 mark?

I have the JHM spacers used to have a full milltek which is now for sale. Changed it for a full custom system from MIJ with no cats in the dp's this makes the biggest difference of the the things you can do. I also have a pipercross filter lightweight disks (JHM). Also have H&R anti roll bars and JHM short shifter both of which I would highly recommend. Don't know my current BHP but it feels alot more than stock. Will find out soon..

I am getting a full decat and non-resonated Miltek setup from MRC on the 25th, complete with Rolling Road Map, Air filter and so on. Am also getting an RS4 ARB fitted as well. My car had a superchips fitted when I bought it, we took that off and dynoed it last month at 341bhp, so we shall see what it makes with all the gubbins on it on the 25th.

Where can I get a JHM short shift and what is the difference like? are the throws much shorter?

Yep with the mani and my other stuff I'm expecting to nudge 400 bhp and 330 ftlb, more torque lower down and a big surge from 5k on.

There's a video on YouTube of a B6 with these mods up against a supercharged one doing rolling pulls and the N/A one wins everytime because the charger systems just seem to be useless and badly designed. Then the NA switches on the 70 shot of NOS and it flies!!

I would like the JHM longtube headers aswell but can't be arse with removing the engine to fit them. From the reviews and dyno's I've seen they look really impressive

To be fair you're probably not a million miles away from a stock B7 RS4 with that lot, I'd imagine...

Get some coilovers or at least lowering springs and maybe wheel spacers or wider wheels too for a wider track...

all I've got at the moment, hoping to get some decent ones over the summer as I know a few lads that are into photography and have all the proper gear.

I did have the suspension lower than that but it was abit too hard for daily use, so raised it up again

Thought about lightening the car a bit?

Wheels?
Seats?
Carbon Body panels?

How is it on fuel with the mods?

xyber: Are you sending your intake manifold in exchange for the JHM jobbie? Or buying the JHM manifold first and then send your OEM in after?

sending mine back once I've fitted the new one and getting the $500 core refund, £52 with DHL through parcels2go to send it back so not too bad considering it's 10kg

I got a mail saying it'll be ready in 1-2 weeks late last night so quicker than expected
