'One-touch' window

Post by Bhopper2 » Fri May 21, 2010 6:30 pm

Hi all,

My one-touch capability for the driver's window has stopped working. (i.e. the ability to press the window button once to drop the window all the way).

Strangely, it still works for up, just not down?!

This happened once before about 4 months ago, and Audi sorted it while it was in for a service. They said it had lost it's programming, and that they had reprogrammed it to work again..... happy that it was working I didn't investigate any further.

However, it has now "lost it's programming" again it would seem. I have tried holding down the button and letting the window drop to the bottom, and then holding the button up to let the window get to the top, as I have read that sometimes you need to reset the fully open and closed positions, but this does not seem to have helped.

Quite possibly related, just before it stopped working, I did a one-touch up, it reached the top and then dropped about 4 inches or so (as if it has detected an obstruction), it hasn't worked since.

Any ideas on how to resolve without taking it to Audi?

Many thanks,

Ben.

Have you tried holding the button in the up position when the window is fully closed for a few secs and vice versa when fully open?

Not sure what I've done, but it seems to be fixed ?!

I spent some time trying all sorts of things, e.g. engine running, window up, window down, hold button, engine off, window down, window up, hold button, etc, etc......

...and something seems to have sorted it, because now it seems to be working again... strange.

I'm sure there is a good explanation and a correct procedure, so if anyone knows it, it would be good to know. Saves me trying all sorts of combinations of button pushes next time it stops working again :D

Cheers,

Ben.

Don't want to make light of what is clearly a very serious problem, but I'd be happy that's all that's wrong with your S4 if I were you ;)

Haha, fair point

Being sceptical, I'm sure now that my extended warranty has just run out, everything is programmed to start going wrong - I'm just waiting for a big bill :D
