Just got back from a trip to Devon and noticed my windscreen has a 6 inch crack behind the drivers side sun visor. There doesn’t seem to be any stone chip damage at all so I’m wondering why this happened? Many years ago I had an Impreza Turbo, one of the original ones and I cracked about 5 screens in it, and from my observations the reason for this was chassis flex under very spirited driving as you could literally see it crack when you went over a hard bump in the road on the left side of the car. I’ve recently had the opportunity to seriously put the S4 (B7) through it’s paces down so twisty roads and I’m hoping this crack is just bad luck and not a taste of things to come.

Has anyone else experienced this in the past?

Yep, after I fitted the coilovers and ARBs, I went abit low so the ride was too hard and it cracked from the bottom left corner, diagonally across towards the top right corner, about a foot long in the end. Could have just be a coincidence but I'm not convinced. So I raised the suspension to soften things up and had a new screen fitted on Thursday last week
