Looking to buy a B6 S4 saloon.

Anything in particular to look for? Obviously it has FSH and all that, but anything else I should be looking at?

Yes, the sale's section on here.
can't really think of anything that normally go wrong on these that you won't know about when you start it, coil packs will give a misfire and fault message.
Minds gone blank now

Cool. I've got one in mind, but it seems pretty cheap. Needs some painting done, but still, VERY cheap (I think). Plus its only 500 miles away, so getting the RAC to have a look at it before I make the journey I think. Good that there is nothing really to go wrong with them. All going well, I should be driving her back next week. Can't wait...

I wish. That does look like a good car. But I can only just afford to get into a higher mileage one. I don't want to go posting up the ad or anything, as thats just asking for it to be stolen from under me, lol.

Check auxillary rads aren't leaking, fsh, find out if there is any warranty left, coil packs point to a misfire, brakes take a pasting sometimes, flywheel can go around 80k so if higher mileage check for that, ask about any mapping or custom exhausts, make sure there is two keys or an additional replacement is around £80 from fontain, check cruise works, aircon is regassed, engine mount?

Best bet is find a mate or owner close to it with vag com, worst case, take a laptop and buy an eBay cheapie one to check codes. Where is the one your looking at?

Oh, and arrange a viewing time early in the morning and turn up 20 mins early, pop the hood and make sure the engine is stone cold, then start her, if she struggles it's a £400 starter motor. If your local to Milton Keynes or within about 30 miles hit me up and I'll help ya

I'm about 500 miles from the car. Up here in Scotland, the car is down about London somewhere. I've arranged for the RAC to do a full check on it before I waste my time / money going down for it. Wasn't cheap at £250, but at least it'll be HPI'd (which it passed no problems) and checked more thoroughly than I could. Also get a 30 day warranty with the check and 7 days insurance to get it home.

Hopefully it all comes up good and I can go collect on Sat.
