Strange steering noise solved

Thought Id post this for future reference.
For a week a while now ive been chasing a noise coming from the wheel area, where as you steer one way, there was a loud ticking noise, that seemed rotational and increase in speed along with your road speed. Ive had the front wheels off several times and found absolutly nothing.
So tonight I stopped in at a mates garage (Volkscraft in Exeter, thanks Matt) to have a poke around up on the ramps. We couldnt find anything obvious, checked bushes, bearings, brake cowlings etc, nothing!
So stood scratching our heads, we turned the wheels to try another way to replicate the sound and as Matt turned the wheels to the left we heard it!!
It was the caliper spring clip!! Bit of copper grease and the sound is now gone!!
Well please as it was one of the sounds that you think has to be expensive, but in actual fact it was probably cause by me washing my wheels alot to keep the brake dust off
Just need my top control arms replaced now and my car will be annoying noise free again
