S4's with LPG
S4's with LPG
Calling all S4 owners (or other 4.2 owners...) for help, my car is doing my head in with this intermittent misfire problem and I need to get a fresh pair of eyeballs on it.
Can anyone recommend a garage/installer that is comfortable working on a converted car? Most places baulk because of the LPG and I can't take it anymore, even if I have to travel and stay over I just need help that's solid now.
Thanks

Hi Lee,
Did you say that there is nothing coming up as faults with Vag-Com?
Can you get the car up to temperature and see what the AIT ( air intake temperature) value is and post back?
Also, can you have a look at the Long term fuel trims - Engine block 032 and post those?
Also, what you can try is to disconnect the MAF - it's just a small connector on the Air-intake pipe and take the car for a run. Obviously, it will not run very powerfully, but should be smooth. If it does run smoothly, then it would point to the MAF or something related.
But, in the first instance could you post the above values? I would guess that the AIT is wrong and when the car heats up it is running very rich. Anyway, the fuel trim values would show that.
Regards, Chris.

Hi Lee,
I know it seems a bit obvious, but you have 2 fuel injector failures - 5 and 7, all on one bank.
Either the fuel injectors are knackered or the connection to them. I would guess that the injectors are knackered.
I would bet the fuel trims will show that cylinder bank one has a very negative fuel trim compared to bank 2, for partial throttle.
The injectors are cheap and V easy to replace.

Hi Chris,
I thought that might be the case, but I am not technical enough to know how to do that, my guess it is wiring from where the Gas ECU was spliced into the petrol ECU loop, although the Gas guy said he checked all of that. I need a garage I can trust to work on it and are comfortable with the Gas side. any recommendations?
I used to use Inde-Tech in Milton Keynes, but their attitude to the Gas conversion is disgusting and I won't be taking the car back there now.

Hi Lee,
Sorry for the late reply. I know that some of the RS4 guys swear by MRC Tuning for anything Audi.
www.mrctuning.com
They're in Banbury OX16 4RZ, I don't know how close that is to you.
Hope it helps, anyway.
