After a long wait I finally picked up my B7 S4 on Friday evening. I’ve put a couple of hundred miles on it/him/her(?) over the weekend and commuted into work in it this morning. I can safely say I’m delighted! All round it’s just great, the engine is fantastic and it is quite a bit quicker than I had expected, and so smooth. I think these cars are very much underrated by most people and I think I’ve already shocked a few people out there as to what an S4 can do. The fuel consumption is pretty much what I’d expected too, not great but managed 22mpg on my commute into London this morning, so only a couple of MPG worse than my previous diesel Range Rover Sport. Only managed about 14 mpg over the weekend though!

Couple of bad bits, the rear window washer isn’t working, you can hear the pump but nothing comes out (front works fine) but I’ve not had a chance to check, and the RNS-E sucks, so so unuserfriendly and complicated. The sat nav in the Range Rover was light years ahead, and I can’t believe it doesn’t do full postcodes. Does this change with the 2010 DVD or will I never be able to do full postcodes?

I can't comment on the rest of your niggles, but I had a similar issue with the rear washer not spraying, and I was told it was just blocked nozzles (it was fixed by my dealer under warranty). However there are more fundamental problems with the rear washer unfortunately, due to some pretty crappy design of the way that the washer pipe mates with the moving wiper arm. There are no real seals here, as far as I'm aware, and this results in fairly poor pressure, often leaks which don't have any detrimental effect, and sometimes leaks which cause failure of the wiper motor at the rear.

get a small safety pin or needle and poke it in the washer hole - worked for me on loads of cars over the years, just gets bunged up with limescale thats all.

Unblocking the nozzles with a pin is fine but do not try and adjust them with it, you'll snap the pin off in the nozzle and block it. If you need to adjust it use a marking out scribe or similar

Now how do I remove a stainless steel pin from the nozzle..

The reason behind the 5 digit post code is because its German. German post codes are 5 digits. 2010 will be the same.
