ok, silly question. I obviously put something in the wrong place when putting it all back in after the coilpack changes, but now, having bought sparkplugs, I can't get the bonnet open no matter how hard I pull on the lever in the cockpit.
I pull the tab in the grill and no luck either, although that does loosen the second catch.
Any ideas? there must be a solution in event of the cable breaking?
As soon as I can get under the bonnet I can do the sparkplugs...
what a mare!
help me open the bonnet....
RE: help me open the bonnet....
oh ffs... two hours on this and I still can't get it open. the cable is tense and there is now a little give in the level itself. I can feel the ring pull lever is working and I can hear the catch move, but nothing is getting the master catch up! I took the dash panel off to see the cable but its clearly jammed where the master bonnet hook meets the grip area.
is this a grill off? bumper and headlights off? or cut the bonnet off job? grrrrr

RE: help me open the bonnet....
I had similar problem, when I received my car back from Audi after having some warranty work done, the idiots had closed to bonnet and had not re-attached the release cable. so could not get the bonnet up. the solution was for them to cut into the front grill and release it from there, they said the had to replace mesh and the inside of the fan housing (large bit of plastic that covered fan, I think), and also had to use a large screw driver to access it. it took them 3 days to figure this out.
Car was a B7
There should be no pulling/cutting of the bonnet.
best of luck

RE: help me open the bonnet....
that was just a desperation comment, well, sort of... but thanks for the reply, looks like its going to be a similar thing here. I knida know where the problem occured so doing it again wont be an issue, even if it is at the cost of a new grille. what a pain, all I wanted to do was replace the sparkplugs, nothing is ever easy is it?
thanks
