Vibration / Bounce

Post by 1781cc » Thu Dec 10, 2009 3:31 pm

ok, gonna sound like a strange one this...

since I picked up a rear drivers side puncture on my S4 the past weekend and had to limp to a garage to get a replacement, the car has felt like it is vibrating slightly from the rear.

So I replaced the other side tyre as a precaution, it still stayed. then I got both wheels balanced, all fine and alloys not damaged. so I put the rears on the fronts as I know they were fine. no vibration from the front, so what could it be?

wheel bearing? driveshaft? diff? or something much cheaper? lol

it feels quite subtle at the moment, but I can feel it from 5mph up, still subtle and doesn't make a noise....

Hi Lee,

Is it speed related? Does it get more violent with more speed or is it more or less the same at any speed?

regards, Chris.

Sort of worse at speed, not by much, it's definately not alloy or tyre related, sounds odd, but it feels like somethiing rotational is oval as opposed to round, and if get a loud noise in 5-6th gear toward the top of the rev range. I plan on keeping this car for years so hoping it's not mega expensive... Fingers crossed
