Hi All,

Another newbie here looking for a quick responce. Just about to do the deal on a 2003 03 S4 Avant. Nogaro Blue with half leather / blue Alcantara seats. Buying from a small dealer in Gatwick.
The body work and interior is mint and the HPI checks work out. My only faults being the previous owner must have hit every kerb in the UK as the wheels are fecked.

Car is up for £12,495. I have asked £13,000 flat with the wheels refurbed. Stealer is asking £13,300 with wheels done.

Firstly does any one know the car? secondnly is the price ok and am I asking too much?

Thoughts great appreciated...

Will introduce myself properly a little later.

Cheers,
Nick.

OK... deal has been done £13000 all in with wheels refurbed too!!

Now to introduce my self - My name is Nick living in the midlands and working in motorsport. Not long moved back to the UK after living in Cologne for 6 years (yep an hour away from the Ring). Former owner of a much loved MK4 R32 with AMD stage 2. Have been looking for a fast estate (I am a mountain biker) for some time and could not stretch to an RS4. So the S4 is a perfect alternative and a lot of car for the money. I don't plan on using the car every day just some week nights and to get away at the weekends.

Some come on all owners... tell me I have done the right thing!!

Definitely the right move, I do some what wish I'd bought an Avant for practicality reasons (again MTB) but just the fact I have a car with that engine in is good enough for me

Things you may have picked up on if you've been over the forums even briefly...fuel...and oil...two things will never buy in such quantity ever again regardless of what car you own :) Enjoy!

Craig (either in Gloucestershire or Cheshire and usually getting between the two very quickly :D )

Welcome along Nick. Where about's in the Midlands are you?
You don't see many noggy's on the road so should spot you pretty easily!

Hi Craig / Dunc,

Thanks for the welcome guys! have spent the last few weeks reading up on all the treads on here and this is also one of the reasons why I settled for the S4.
Dunc - I am in Brackley mate. How about yourself?

Welcome.

I'm sure you will enjoy it and Avants are the most practical, had both and the avant wins everytime.

Cheers

Just had a look at it on pistonheads. http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1217484.htm

Looks nice and I do like the noggy blue, my previous S4 was a noggy blue saloon and it does looks super when all scrubbed up and polished. One thing to be aware of though, if it is on the long life service schedule get some oil (make sure it is the right oil) as some engines do like a drink. When the cars were new Audi provided a zip up bag which could hold a 1litre bottle of oil and some cloths which had velcro to attach it inside the boot. The DIS on the dash will display a low oil indicator if the level does get low and you should top up immediately, hence the oil in a bag.

Am jealous of the half leather...I find the full leather too slippy when giving it the beans...am thinking of a partial retrim to get the centres of the front seats sorted

If you don't have the bag...I don't...blag a resealable bag from a dealership...they provide a litre of oil during a service...the bag is invaluable...make sure you always have a litre onboard...stick it in the wheel well :)

Found a guy on eBay selling Mobil 1 ESP 5W-30 @ 46 for 8l...am due to pick up tomorrow evening :) If anyone is interested in details I'll post...may speak to the guy about a deal tomorrow

I'm in Dudley Nick.
If the car is on long service, get it off it. This is the thing any Audi specialist will tell you.
You say you work in motorsport? What is it you do then mate, sound's fun!

Lee,

I took a lot of advice regarding taking the car off longlife service, before I got mine done last month. Spoke with Unit 20 and Star performance here in Scotland. Both of them said that a high performance V8 engine will last longer and perform better if it is more regularly serviced.

They used the same oil as the AVS service, but the change interval is 1 year/10000miles. Since I have had mine done I have not had the rattle on startup that I used to have.

The best benifit is the piece of mind that your engine is getting the right lubrication that is required for a high performance V8. Would hate for that thing to go POP!
