Tyres - thoughts or recommendations?

Post by no_RS » Wed Sep 09, 2009 7:44 pm

Well my S4 has munched it's way through it's first set of rubber and I need new tyres, currently running Michelin PS2's 235/40ZR18 extra load which lasted 15 months so around 12-15k miles. Anyone got any views or recommendations for better tyres?

I have seriously thought about Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta's but have seen good/bad reports but Camskill are flogging them £97 each (supply only) at the moment, a lot cheaper than PS2's at £187 each fully fitted.

Thanks

Pete

have a look at the tyre reviews website, it appears that for the cash, the Pirelli P Zero Rosso or Nero's are the way to go...

PZero's are good grippy tyres but soft and typically from realy reports don't last long. I have Sessanta's on my RS4 and they are good, but I have been spoilt having had Goodyear F1 assymetrics on previously which have better wet handling and lower raod noise which I will be going back to after the Sessantas are finished.

I always favoured Goodyear F1 GSD3's on my B6 S4 against Conti's, Bridgestone's, Falkens and Michelin PS's

I have the goodyear's on mine and can't fault them one bit.
previous- Pug 205 gti, 306 gti, 309 gti Goodwood.
Audi S3, S4 V8 avant.
Porsche Macan Turbo.
Gone but NEVER forgotten - C5 RS6 Misano red avant.

Now - Empty garage

If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there!

I am happily using GoodYear F1 Asymetric (not the GSD3) instead of PS2.
My wife also moved from Pirelli PZero on its TT (2nd generation) to the F1 Asym and none of us is ready to come back to our previous sets :D
