Servicing?

I am now fast approching the time that my car is needing a service. I purchased the beast earlier this year knowing I would need to service it at some point soon.

However, I don't know whether I should carry on with the Audi dealership service plan (Audi longlife over at Hillington in Glasgow), or go to one of the local Audi Specialists for the same Audi longlife service?

The two specialists I had in mind where either:

A is for Audi in Glasgow, who I've met and seem very nice!

or

Star Performance in Kirkcaldy.

Obviously Glasgow would be my first option, but I am willing to travel to get a superior service, and I don't want them putting any old Halford's oil in my car (not putting Halford's down for anyone who may work there).

Anyone have any dealings with some or all of these garages or would I be better with an official Audi stamp in the book considering I am likely to have the car for a few more years at least?

All i would say is get it of the long life service. My car had full audi history but i ended up taking it to MRC cause they will do a better in my opinion. I think anyone who know's enough about cars and specialists won't be put off by it going to a specialist and not a main dealer when they see the service history.
Sorry but i've know idea about the garages you mentioned. You could alway's post the question in the ownership forum.

DONT GO TO GLASGOW AUDI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

its a bit of a trek but Unit 20 @ Chester or MRC for your servicing requirements. Dealers just see a blank cheque book, fleece you silly and dont do the job correctly.
If you want it doing right, then pack a bag and head south.

whats Glasgow Audi's labour rates...? 100 quid an HOUR? you can get a brain surgeon for less than that!!!!!

as said, get it off that loing life service routine as well!!
change your oil every few 000k miles.

I have never been to Star Performance either but I'd rather trek down to Grizz and Lee at Unit 20 for the big jobs when due.I'll go to the dealer for oil changes and filters but thats about it
attn to detail is seconf to none.

Thanks Guys.

I spoke with Lee at Unit 20. Very nice and service cost was very reasonable. All I need is to persuade the wife that a 400mile round trip for a service is a worth while!

I don't see it as a problem because I'll enjoy the drive. However, I'll need to sweeten it up by explaining it as a shopping trip.

As recommended, I think I shall take it off the long life srvice plan. I was concerned that it may affect the residuals when I come to resell, but Lee said it should improve engine wear in the long term which would actually help when I want to sell on.

Thanks Dunc & Quattrokid for the good advice.
