aftermarket warranty ?

Post by BigAustin » Mon Aug 17, 2009 12:23 pm

I am considering getting an aftermarket warranty on my B6 S4 `04

anyone had any dealings with `warranty direct` ?

been quoted £568 for a years cover for the full package.

As it is a complex piece of kit, I could spend that easily on a garage visit.

any thoughts appreciated

John,

I went through the same process in February when I bought my car. I got a quote from warranty direct of £400 for the year, for I think their Gold cover (I can't quite remember). However, instead I decided to put £100 a month aside to cover any garage bills, servicing and mechanical consumables (tyres and pad) which would also not be covered under any warranty scheme and take the risk that I'm not going to have to take the engine out every other month.

I would be very interested in what other members have to say on this subject, as I am suprised at the big difference all three of us have been quoted.

When researching the S4 B6, I found very little threads on the internet about know issues with the B6 and generally they seem to be very reliable for a 344BHP sports tourer.

Thats what im going to do now, stick it into and ISA by standing order and forget about it, cheaper in the long run

My main worry is my timing chain tensioner as it is rattling for 2 secs on cold start up, which as i understand is just whilsts oil pressure builds up?

thanks for the feedback.

I have no rattles at the moment, just thought for peace of mind.

You woul dbe better off with premium bonds than an ISA, 3% is all you
will get and have to lock it away too. but thats for another forum ;)

S4 B6, if you compare to RS4 (B5 & B7), RS 6 (C5) has the least to go wrong

seen it said before, but no cambelt, no DRC, no FSI

aside from aux rad and coils - anything else will be plain bad luck
