Should i buy this S4 ?

Post by BigAustin » Sun Jul 05, 2009 7:29 pm

I have to option of buying an S4 :) an `04 with 66k on clock.

full leather, a/c , sat nav, auto, bose, cd changer, xenon, etc

£13,950 from a private seller

sounds and drives ok, as far as I can tell the aux rads are ok, but fluid level was just below minimum.

heart says yes, head says no and wait for a B7

any advice

Im going for a B6 purely because I prefer the front end and the tax is cheaper, plus when I see a B7 I cant escape the thought that it isnt an RS4 which looks sooo much better

Ive seen lower milage examples cheaper than that one.

But if your not jumping at it Id wait for a B7, rather than realizing down the line you wished you waited. Thats what I always do anyway, if you arent grabbed by it straight away, wait

Got an '04 plate S4 Moro metallic Blue with 49k on the clock for less than that.

It's got black leather interior, Bose, heated seats, six disk changer, but no sat nav.

I was looking around for ages, as you know these cars are not as common as a BMW M3, which was one of the reasons I went for the Audi (and the four doors!).

I think that you should get an '04 B6 like that privately at £12k if you waited and were willing to travel! you could always haggle, as it is a buyer's market.

Parked next to a B7 S4 the other day and there is not an awful lot in it for me, but I must admit I prefer the B6 front end. More agressive than the B7. Interiors were almost identical, but I did like their burgundy lether interior!

The black S4 does look gorgeous, but if it is anything like the dark blue ones, I would get a tin of touch up paint as scratches are more obvious on the darker cars.

With regards to the car itself, if you have not owned or driven an S4 before, they are beautifully made, extremely quick and so understated - Your heart will say yes! :s4addict:

13,950 is expensive. 12K tops, nearer 11k is the going price.
