Looking at buying an S4 Avant very soon....

Post by Daxcossie » Sat May 23, 2009 12:48 pm

Hi All,

I am looking to buy an S4 Avant (Manual) as my family has just got a whole person bigger and the wife tells me that the Golf PD150 wont be big enough.

Cannot decide if I should spend 15k on an 04 model thats done approx 45-50,000 miles or push the boat out and get a facelift 05/06 model thats done 30/35,000 miles.

Any advice on the difference in model years would be great and any other pros and cons between them aswell as what to look out for on used models around this age ?

Thanks.

I think 15k for an 04 as a little high? I would love price's to be that high cause my 53 should then be around 13.5k. They are superb cars but the rear leg room is very poor so have a good look at one first before falling in love with it.
Not sure about the difference's between the face lift model though.
Good luck with the search :s4addict:

I have a B6 although I have the user manuals from both B6 and B7, it looks very similar to me !

Yes on the rear leg room point, it's tight ! I had 3 of the children in the back a few days ago (2 in child seats) and the 3rd (in the middle) was squeezed in pretty tight.

Must admit that my B6 looks old compared to a B7 though..... but is it worth the extra £££ not sure....

purely cosmetic changes.
Look at any B6 and B7 model and you'll see the differences. Check out Pistonheads or Trader...

For an 04 plate you should be looking at c£12-13k. For an 05/06 maybe 15-16k...

If rear leg room is a problem now, its only going to become more of an issue. I would go for a 6 rather than a 4 just for the extra space.

You'll only need a '6 if you're worried about adult leg room in the rear. Absolutely fine for kids.

Perfectly big enough for a family of four.
