i recon its about 3-5mpg less than I was getting in the S4 saloon, which itself was a couple of mpg less than the RS6 . . .
anyone got any theories as to why its so crap?!
aside from having a V8 lump up front

Heavier?
Did you really get more out of an RS6 than the S4 saloon? That surprises me

The RS6 (avant) is approx 520kg heavier than the S4 cab but has a third more torque so on a cruise it may be a bit more economical but it's probably down to enjoying the milltek exhaust note

yes the RS 6 was / is more economical than both S4's. . . mine was a saloon, which weighed less than the avant, i also found out after id sold it, it was mapped ! so adding to the economy
on a motorway cruise control at 70mph I could get 30mpg everytime on the RS 6, on the S4 saloon best I could get was 27mpg. . . .I havent tried yet on the cab, but think it'll be 26mpg
but its around town the cab is terrible
dont get me wrong, its all relative and mpg is not a major concern, otherwise i'd have got a diesel. . .
was just wondering why it was worse than the other two, and I think it must be down to weight !
I'd better lay off the pies !

Yeah must be the added weight in the cab
That's interesting on the RS6, I'm sure the combined mpg was listed as below 20 when they came out, S4 21-ish, concur on getting 27 on a very steady NSL m/way run

its ok, not so bad after all, managed 28mpg over 200mile round trip, M & A roads
happy enough with that
Though I recon its <5mpg when the roof's down with the Milltek !!

interesting, just looking at the official stats, the auto gets better fuel consumption vs the manual
Fuel consumption: urban/extra urban/overall, mpg 14.2 / 27.4 / 20.5 (manual) vs 15.5 / 30.0 / 22.4 (auto)

This is due to longer gear ratios on the Tiptronic.

I managed 29mpg on a long M1 / M25 trip yesterday. Mostly with cruise set to 70mph. This went down to 27mpg for the whole trip once I hit London traffic.
I think MrsTwo could crack 30mpg.

I had the S4 cab for about 2k miles and averaged 22.0mpg. . . . had my new RS 6 for 1.1k miles so far and am averaging 21.9mpg
Not alot in it for extra 150bhp
