B6 dashboard lights

Post by marctwo » Tue Mar 10, 2009 3:31 pm

On my S3 the dials are illuminated all time. On the S4 they only come on with the headlights, is this normal?

Also, the S3 has a dial to adjust the brightness but I can't find any such thing on the S4, does it have one?

Sounds perfectly normal to me, mine only come on with the headlights too.

Don't know about the dimmer option though...........

Mine are on constantly, B6. Only can tell when it is dusk or in a tunnel. The dimmer is not a dial like on the S3. Use the +/- button on the left hand side of the dashboard.

Thanks. I wonder if it has 2 brightness settings, one for lights off and one for lights on? Maybe my lights off setting is set to min.

If they are not on, it can be changed with VAG-COM for either scales, needles or both to be on all the time.

That's really helpful, thanks. Do you know how to do this in VAG-COM? Is it fairly obvious?

Control Module select
17-Instruments
10-adaption
Then you need Ch 19 as shown below....

A019,0,Additional Features
A019,5,Additional Features
A019,6,?xxxx: Illumination (MY 2002 and above)
A019,7,0 = Needle and Scale only active at "Light ON"
A019,8,1 = Needle already active at "Ignition ON"
A019,9,2 = Scale already active at "Ignition ON"
A019,10,3 = Scale (2nd Map) and Needle at "Ignition ON" active
A019,11,

I managed it after owning Vag-Com for a week, so im deff no expert

Cheers Steve
