a friend is looking for a new suspension set up on his B6 s4, and is also looking to run 19" wheels
what suspension set up would you guys reccommend?
i've suggested KW v2's, but would like to see whats the tried and tested mod as i dont own a B6
cheers

RE: coilovers
The three that i'd shortlist in no particular order are;
1. KW V2/3 (some applications don't have a V2 application)
2. Bilstein PSS9
3. H&R
IF you want the latter 2 give me a shout.

RE: coilovers
I looked at this when I had my B6 S4.
The standard suspension is a very good all round set up, very slightly under damped is the only issue for track use. On Castle Coombe during ADI the car felt good only slightly "bouncy" on the fast corner after the start fininsh line.
I when the anti-roll bar route and a set of light 8.5x19 BBS LM`s, perfect.
If the lowered ride hight look is needed, you will have to do some front arch work if running 235/35x19 tyres

After a full year with the factory set-up I upgraded to K&W V3. The main issue was for me that it was trimmed as a "GT" (which it is) not a sport car. So a bit soft and on the edge it is difficult to feel the limits.
The K&W V3 advantages were:
- fully adjustable
- inox body (if it snows where you live, when you want to adjust something after a full winter it is the kind of details to look after...)
I am happy, by the result. I used on other cars Bilstein PSS9, and if it was my first choice (it was just far too expensive in Switzerland for its actual value...). In fact the result with the K&W is better: good feedback and feeling without being as tough for day to day usage.
About the height, I lowered the car of 20mm only: you can still cross any bumper without wonder for hours if it will scratch something...
About the ride, I don't think it is a good idea to go for 19''. If the look can be great, bigger rims usually means heavier rims which makes it feel even more heavier cornering.
Sorry if the english is not good. I hope that will help.

Thanks Nidfix,
Gonna give the 19" rims a miss I think anyway.
I'll end up going for either the H&R or Bilstein but I have no experience of either.
All feedback very welcome.

About H&R, do you know if it is the "Ultra lightweight" version or the usual "Street Performance" version which is available for S4 B6 ?Shagga wrote:Thanks Nidfix,

I went on the website and they announce "Street Performance" with a "Ultra lightweight" picture

Hmm,
No idea at the minute. Looking into it now.
