anyone had an issue with their B6? Did a quick search and couldn't see anything immediately - wipers started moving REALLY slowly, then almost stopped completely...... wondered if this was same thing that affects B5 cars?Anyone help shed some light please?

At a guess its the same thing that the A3 suffers from too!
The grease in the spindles dries up, and eventually they stop moving altogether and seize.
I got a new linkage for my g/f's A3 from Vagparts for about £35

Same as dest: the spindles of the mecanism can get rusted. they gradually slow down the engine up to the point that no move is possible.
As you cannot actually get access to the rusted area, you may have to change the entire set. It is not very expensive and you can even do it yourself.
When that happened to mine, I could not even slightly move the old one by hand.
They a bit changed the part since in order to address that issue.
For the time being, after 2 years, no problem.
I would suggest you to check it quickly: it increases the effort on the engine and if you have to replace also the engine, it will cost you much more.

I assume "engine" means motor?
As above, I would definitly get it sorted ASAP, when I took mine off after trying it, the motor was red hot due to the extra effort needed to try to move them.
A new motor is ALOT more expensive than the mechanism!

Cheers guys,
A phone call to VAG Parts is in order then, once I've taken a good look - typically, it had to happen when I was in Dorset on holiday!! Thankfully, nothing but SUN SUN SUN!! for the 10 days we were there...result.

Yes "motor". I wrote too quickly and english in not my mother tongue as you can guess.

Me too - started at the weekend. Search on the web - seems to be a common problem with B6 A4s too. Found a guide on how to take the mech apart. Car in bits at the moment.

thanks bud, I sorted it earlier in the week - had to go to main stealers as VAGParts couldn't get the parts until early next week
