Hi all,

Just wondered if anybody can recommend a make and supplier for good grooved discs for my S4. The fronts are going to need replacing soon so i would like to upgrade them all with something a bit better.

I've got a bit of vibration from the fronts and i don't have much confidence in the standard Audi versions.

Sorry if this has been covered before, i did a search but couldn't find anything amongst all the results that came up.

The standard S4 brakesare pretty good TBH. Much better than the E46 M3 jobbies. Regarding aftermarket grooved discs try ECS. Keep us infomed of what you finally go for.

I wouldn't go for ECS. Knew a fellow S4 driver that went for ECS disks and they warped on all three sets they gave him.

If you are looking for increased retardation and less fade change the lines to Goodridge braided lines and DOT 5.1 fluid. This will give you better performance for a fraction of the price. Otherwise upgrade to the B7 RS4 front kit.

So the standard plain Audi discs are the best then, slightly surprised by this but i have faith in German engineering from past experiance.

Not changing because of any problems apart from slight warpage on the fronts, not suffered any fade so far.

I will be changing to DS2500 pads allround, just because i have found them to be the best performance on and off track on previous cars without any squealing.

Try CRN Products, they do several makes of disc and can groove standard discs if required.

ATE power discs are very good in my experience, see if they are available for the S4.

Interesting. Do you race your S4, I wonder?
It drive mine very hard all of the time and have had no problem at all with disks - have you seen the size of them - they are bin lids?

The brakes are duel rate you know - so they will seem quite soft until you need them. I have had people saying - including my wife - that the brakes are rubbish. I just say - Ok, give them a good shove. QED.

Hi Chris, I guess you are being sarcastic, an Avant would be a strange choice for a race car any way. Having said that i do make occasional trips to the Nurburgring and have done a track day at Zolder at 30 plus degrees with no brake fade at all so i can vouch for the stopping power, but that is not the issue.

The front are worn and have a small amount of run out or distortion resulting in some wheel wobble from high speed. The wheel balance has been checked twice by the way.

I could just change them for Audi replacement discs but thought it worth invstigating whether better aftermarket discs are available and how the price compares.

After markets for the B6 S4 are not cheap. I think the standard discs with DS2500 pads and braided brake pipes will make a noticeable difference. I umm and arrh'd over the same issue not to long back and went for standards.
