Should I Buy One????

Post by ShaneyB » Tue Sep 09, 2008 12:19 pm

Hi All,
I'm thinking of Part Exchanging my B5 S4 Avant for a B6 S4 Avant. If anyone has any words of wisdom regarding this I would be very greatful. My car is great and I still smile everytime I put my foot down in it.
I was wondering how the power delivery differed, are there any common faults (can't see many) with the new model etc. I only have around £17k (max) budget so I'm restricted on what year to buy.

Thanks in advance.
Shane

The significant differences will be the lack of shove in the back acceleration you get from your car compared the the linear delivery of the V8 and better driving dynamics.

As for major faults on the B6, the only thing is the auxilliary radiators corroding because the ducting and clearance in the bumper is poorly designed. Best to have them pressure tested prior to expiry of warranty if you are getting a car tht new. If you are fortunate you'll find one that has had both replaced althought there is no prescriptive time frame to if and hne this would happen, depends on how the car has been used andmaintained.
